Release Notes NET 14.0

Summary

With NET 14, we are providing a completely new import function for NET Engineering. It is now possible to import data in shape format directly into the corresponding object classes. In addition to the geometries, the attributes of source and target data can be mapped and imported. Geometric and attributive filters can be used during import.

Support for further data formats will be made available with the next releases.

In NET Design, the setting options for duct coloring when exporting to NET Engineering have been expanded: A separate color scheme can now be defined for each duct type for each network layer. Alternatively, a global color scheme per layer is still possible, which applies to all or only to duct types that are not explicitly set.

In addition, we now support the atesio STRATEGIC 2023 for automatic network calculation.

Note on licensing

New licenses, also known as entitlements, are required for NET 14
These have already been provided for customers using our cloud licensing. Nothing else needs to be done

For customers using the network license server, you must check whether the license server has automatically updated the licenses. If this is not the case, the license sever must be synchronized manually. Remember to update the TKI licensing in advance.

The new licenses are fully compatible with NET 13 and older versions.

The specified versions for Autodesk AutoCAD and Map 3D are the ones for which NET was developed. Generally, newer versions can also be used. However, there have been occasional updates in the past that caused crashes in NET.

Note on Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2025

Currently, we advise against the productive use of the 2025 version of Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D. In our tests, this version of Map 3D has proven to be unstable. Additionally, the compatible PGP version is still under development.

Note on the AutoCAD Map 3D versions

Please note the minimum required versions of Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D for the operation of NET 14. These have been raised compared to NET 13.3 The versions supported with NET 14 can be found in the “Supported software” section NET will not work without the Autodesk AutoCAD and Map 3D updates.

Please check your installed AutoCAD Map 3D version and pay attention to these two version details when doing so:

Release NET 4.0 in Detail

General

  • The data from all layers including Lines and points displayed in Map3D are transferred correctly to the Cyclorama

Dialogs

  • The structure update no longer creates unnecessary control elements in the forms.

Documentation Pack

  • The DocPack output now checks the validity of the selected display model of a DocPack template

  • The DocPack configurator and the DocPack output now have a help button.

  • The Plot Sequence, Plot and Plot Layout forms have been complemented with a help button that links to the NET Help Center.

  • The DocPack report plug-in now also supports MemoryTable reports and can now generate all reports. This means that the previous plug-ins for MemoryTable reports have been removed. Old DocPack configuration files are automatically migrated when opened.

NET Design

Atesio Integration

  • Atesio STRATEGIC 2023 is now supported.

Import

  • The export of CSV data now recognizes separators and quotation marks and quotes them correctly. The import of CSV data can now handle quoted strings correctly.

Dialogs

  • Increased the maximum length of the attribute ABBREVIATION in multiple feature classes of NET Design to have a uniform length of 4.

  • The object class Boundary Type (TC_PL_BOUNDARY_TYPE) has been updated so that data records with identical names are no longer permitted. Existing boundary types with the same name have been consolidated and cleaned up using a structure update.

  • The root node in the tree views of the NET Design result tables no longer contains the entry “Open form”.

Export to NET Engineering

  • In the configuration for detailed planning, the status values are now saved with the names instead of FIDs so that they can be used in other NET Engineering projects in which the status values have a different FID. The old configuration files can still be loaded without any problems.

  • During the export from NET Design to NET Engineering, when any address information is provided in a layer point, a corresponding building data record is now created without geometry and linked to the relevant component.

  • The setting options for duct coloring within the detailed planning have been expanded. Previously, it was only possible to define a fixed color for all ducts, regardless of their type, for each network level. Now it is possible to define a separate color scheme for each individual duct type at each level. It is still possible to define a global color scheme for each level, which is either applied to all duct types or to the ones for which no explicit setting has been made.

NET Engineering

General

  • When drawing duct connection graphics errors are summarized in a log dialog.

  • A duct connection graphic is created only if the line of each fitting can be drawn.

  • The end overviews have a button at the progress bar to update the overview.

  • In the NET Settings, the Fiber optic and Telephony tabs have been aligned as far as possible.

  • New data checks for connection lines and FO/TP terminators.

  • Fixed an error when deleting duct types without a duct template under Oracle.

  • If the option “Automatically rename connected ducts” is activated in the NET options under Survey plan, a warning is now issued if the name of a duct connected by a fitting is changed (confirmation with Yes = make changes to all connected and connected child ducts, confirmation with No = only make changes to this duct).

  • The duct connection editor now shows duct terminations through black colored ports on the ducts. If a duct has a duct termination at this point, this duct cannot be used for new connections. In addition, the ports on ducts are drawn a little larger to make them easier to work with.

  • Name and color schemes are no longer saved as text, but as FID in the Duct type, FO cable type and TP cable type.

Workflows

  • The selection of features in the workflows “Recalculate duct and cable length”, “Create duct end caps”, “Verify duct geometries”, “Verify FO cable geometries”, “Verify TP cable geometries”, “Create and assign ducts (w/o geometry)” and “Create house lead-in” has been optimized and standardized.

  • The cross section of a segment is now updated correctly when using the “Move duct” function.

Connection editor

  • A bug was fixed that could cause a splice and a patch to a technic port to be on the same side of a connector.

  • Clicking on a column header switches between ascending, descending and default sorting.

  • A new action has been added to the connection editor to delete trays.

Dialogs

  • The connections in the “Cabinet”, “Mahole” and “Pole” forms are now also displayed correctly for new data records.

  • The reference to the “FO switching point connection line” and “TP switching point connection line” forms from the “Line” form works again.

  • In the “Cabinet”, “Mahole” and “Pole” forms, there are now additional jump buttons for the linked ducts and in the “Pole” form there are jump buttons for the linked terminators and closures.

  • In the “Person” form, the window for the selection of the place can be opened again using the button behind “Address”.

  • The “Hide cross section” or “Show cross section” function in the “Segment” form now also works correctly after a different cross section template has been stored.

  • The text in the command line of the “Mirror cross section” function in the “Segment” form has been corrected.

  • For attributes whose values are mandatory or must be unique, a standardized and more comprehensible error message is now displayed if one of these conditions is violated.

  • The fibers in the “FO Splice” form are now displayed correctly again under Oracle.

Reports

  • The performance when creating the report “duct tap label” has been optimized.

  • During the creation of the report, errors occurred regarding the consistent assignment of ducts to the left or right side of the connection. Additionally, the report was generally flawed when protective ducts were present.
    These errors were fixed by revising the arrangement of the ducts in the report and ignoring protective ducts altogether.

Import

  • There is now a new import function in the NET Engineering ribbon. You can currently import the shape data format. With this function, the source data can be flexibly inserted into various tables. Relationships between the data are displayed graphically and transferred directly during import.

GIS-Nebenbestimmungen

  • The attribute BMVI_IS_COLLOCATION has been added for the feature class TC_FO_CLOSURE. A new control element has been integrated into the “GIS-NB” tab in the FO Closure form for this purpose. The export to GIS-NB takes this attribute into account if it is set. Otherwise, the export behavior remains unchanged.

Bill of Materials

  • When the error overview is opened while creating the bill of materials, old messages from previous executions will not be shown anymore.

TNIM

  • The TNIM import correctly creates dummy splices of stored splitter paths.

Import from NET Build

  • The import from NET Build could no longer be executed due to an API changeover. This error has been fixed.

  • NET Build Objekt is replaced and updated in TC_RL_FITTING, TC_RL_DUCT, TC_RL_CABLE, TC_RL_CONNECTION as Source reference/Quellreferenz correctly

  • When importing from NET Build, the log output has been improved if there are errors in the configuration.

  • The new check status “Blocked” in the redlining objects is now set when importing from NET Build and is taken into account when editing the objects.

  • When importing from NET Build, incorrect behavior occurred when ducts were laid within a protective duct. This resulted in ducts being created multiple times during a further import into the same measurement. This error has been fixed.

Export to NET Build

  • A bug has been fixed that prevented NET Build synchronisation from creating log files.

  • The NET Build script that creates a Geo JSON for invoices now also creates a file for the markups.

Redlining

  • An error in the redlining data transfer has been fixed that prevented the “Link distribution network” action from being completed

One-click-maintenance

  • Issues fixed in the 1 click maintenance “FO connection line check” and “TP connection line check”

  • Some errors related to the connection line geometry have been fixed.
    The connecting lines geometry are also adjusted if the geometry of the switching point changes.
    The existing 1 click maintenance has been updated to fix existing issues related to connection lines.

NET Field Survey

Dialogs

  • The info fields in the forms in NET Field Survey now allow line and word breaks.
