Summary
Version NET 14.2.1 introduces a series of improvements designed to support professionals working in fiber-optic network planning, documentation, and project management. Highlights include:
-
Unified Import in NET Design: The Import button now opens the general import dialog, known from NET Engineering – simplifying workflows across applications.
-
Advanced Import Features in NET Engineering: It is now possible to import multiple relations into the same table, reducing manual effort and streamlining data preparation.
-
Better resilience in graphical processes: Missing geometries (e.g., in switch points or layouts) no longer interrupt processes but are logged properly.
-
1-Click Maintenance now available in IMBatch: Enables batch execution of maintenance tasks – perfect for automating the maintenance for multiple projects.
Important note:
Please note that this version contains all changes from version NET 14.2.
NET 14.2. was not released due to improvements.

The specified versions for Autodesk AutoCAD and Map 3D are the ones for which NET was developed. Generally, newer versions can also be used. However, there have been occasional updates in the past that caused crashes in NET.
Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2025: Currently, we advise against the productive use of the 2025 version of Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D. In our tests, this version of Map 3D has proven to be unstable. Additionally, the compatible PGP version is still under development.
Note on the AutoCAD Map 3D versions
Please note the minimum required versions of Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D for the operation of NET 14.1. The version for Autodesk Map 3D 2025 has been updated since NET 14.0. The patched version is required for NET to work correctly.
Please check your installed AutoCAD Map 3D version and pay attention to these two version details when doing so:
Release NET 14.2.1 in Detail
General
Documentation Pack
-
While opening a template in the DocPack output the loading process will be shown now.
-
If a layout does not contain a usable viewport for plotting, this no longer causes an abort but is instead logged to the log window.
One-click-maintenance
-
Most TKI 1-click maintenances can now be executed in IMBatch.
NET Design
Import
-
The Import button in the NET Design ribbon menu now opens the standardized general import, which is already available in NET Engineering.
Comsof Fiber Integration
-
Project validation no longer returns an error for the FORCE_DIRECT_CABLES duct layout as of Comsof Fiber Designer 21.1.
Low level design
-
The license check for area licenses deals better with demand points without demand units.
NET Engineering
General
-
If a FO Closure, FO Terminator, TP Closure or TP Terminator is assigned to a Switching Point without geometry or has no geometry when assigned, the error no longer occurs.
-
In the dialog for editing assigned trays, connectors/pins, splitters, fibers/wires and child ducts, a meaningful error message now appears if the value regarding the Offset is removed when renumbering.
-
In the forms “FO Patch” and “TP Patch” the “Change globally” now works correctly again.
-
If another Template is stored in a Segment while two cross-section templates are displayed, there is no longer an error.
Import
-
The selection of constant values for target attributes of the type “Boolean” (yes/no) is now more user-friendly: Instead of a text input field, a clear yes/no selection is displayed.
-
For custom attributes in the general import, a check has been added to ensure that the specified values can be correctly converted into the intended data type.
-
Fixed a bug in the general import that caused selection elements (e.g. dropdowns) not to work as expected.
-
On the filter settings page, a user-friendly yes/no selection is now displayed for Boolean fields.
-
When selecting constants in the general import for target attributes that are linked to domains, a selection list with existing values is now displayed.
-
With the general import, it is now possible to import into the same table for different relations.
Workflows
-
In the workflow 'Recalculate duct and cable length', an error in the selection of ducts and cables was fixed.
-
When splitting ducts within complex duct assemblies (e.g., microducts inside bundled ducts or bundled ducts within protective ducts with multiple branches), the system previously failed to update all relevant higher-level segments. This led to inconsistencies in the network documentation, as the original duct was not correctly replaced in all associated sections.
With this update, the duct tracing logic has been revised. Splitting a duct now reliably updates all affected route and duct segments, even in nested duct structures. This ensures the network documentation remains complete and consistent.
Reports
-
The duct node report crashed when creating it in Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2025. This problem has been fixed.
GIS-Nebenbestimmungen
-
Fixed a bug that caused the lengths of single ducts to be incorrectly determined when exporting to GIS-NB.
TNIM
-
Multiple polygons now can be selected for TNIM Export.
Export to NET Build
-
The NET Build validation erroneously included buildings outside the current cluster in the check. As some of these buildings contained incomplete address information, a validation error was erroneously triggered due to missing or incorrect addresses. This behavior has been corrected - in future, only relevant buildings within the cluster will be validated.
-
Files stored as web links are now transferred correctly when exporting to NET Build.
Redlining
-
If the synchronization from NET Build to a cluster was executed several times, an error occurred if the import process had already been carried out in the same cluster. This problem has been fixed - the import can now be executed multiple times without errors.
-
When transferring data from redlining objects to NET Engineering objects, the field for the source ID and the source is now filled. This allows the origin of the NET Engineering objects to be traced back to NET Build.
