Release NET 15.1 in Detail
General
Documentation Pack
- The highlight in the secondary viewport is now graphically configurable.
- In the âCreate plot sequencesâ workflow, the display of an error icon has been corrected.
- Fixed an issue where the highlight in the secondary viewport persisted across multiple plots instead of being reset for each one.
NET Design
Low level design
- The status in the conversion phase settings now displays the statuses by category. Within each category, the statuses are sorted alphabetically.
- During the transfer from NET Design to NET Engineering via the âCreate Low Level Designâ action, the building is no longer directly linked to fiber optic splitters, splices, and connectors. The relationship can be inferred from the fiber optic terminator.
NET Engineering
General
- A new attribute for the measured distance of the breakdown to the connector has been added.
- The Connection Overview is now displayed consistently and clearly at all display scaling settings.
- The Endings overview now remains clear and consistent at different display scales.
- The error log, which appears for example in case of duplicate entries, is now displayed in the foreground when global changes are successfully applied. This ensures that the error log is immediately visible to users and no longer needs to be searched for in the background.
- The user interface of the network path search has been expanded to include status categories. These can be selected to automatically select each status within the category.
- The âNET Engineering Settingsâ page in Infrastructure Administrator is now displayed correctly even at higher display scales.
- The ONT structure update has been revised to prevent data loss in case of update interruption.
- The import function from the clipboard in the attribute scheme editor has been improved. It is now possible to insert multiple lines regardless of the type of line ending. Each line is correctly recognized as a separate entry, and errors caused by certain clipboard formats no longer occur.
- When creating a new industry model, suitable query templates for the Feature Explorer are now used again. This ensures that the automatically imported layer queries work reliably across all supported databases. This improvement makes it easier to use the Feature Explorer for new projects and ensures a smooth start of a project.
- The element library now displays correctly at all scaling levels. Symbols and elements remain consistent and easy to read.
Import
- When importing multi-geometries, the data preview now displays the simplified geometry type, if a conversion is possible.
- The general import now supports the import of MultiPoint, MultiLineString and MultiPolygon geometries, provided that only a single base geometry is contained. This allows data from external sources, which are sometimes incorrectly stored as multi-geometries, to be imported more reliably. Multi-geometries with more than one element are filtered and logged, except for MultiPolygons, which can be imported as usual. This change improves the handling of geospatial data and reduces manual correction effort after import.
- The general import now logs records without geometry if a geometry attribute was selected on page 3.
- The general import now includes a more detailed view that displays the progress of individual steps during the import or test run.
- Similar to the dry run, the âImport protocolâ is now shown after the import instead of the âImport resultâ.
- When importing geometries into relations using the general import, the correct geometry type is now filtered.
- The general import protocol now includes an information message if a geometry could not be added to the feature class.
Workflows
- In the âRecalculate duct and cable lengthâ workflow, it is now possible to transfer FO Cables or TP Cables directly from the form filter (depending on the activated data models).
- The user interface of the âSet duct fittingâ workflow has been optimized. The settings for fitting type, duct type, duct color, and cable assignment can now be found in the workflow. In addition, the behavior when applying the cable assignment has been aligned with the behavior of the âDuct connection editorâ.
- The duct selection window in the âSet duct fittingâ, âSplit ductsâ and âSet duct insertionâ workflows is now displayed correctly at different display scales.
- In the âCreate and assign ducts (w/o geometry)â workflow, an error message no longer appears when the count attribute is removed and the color scheme is selected. Instead, the Run button is disabled as expected.
- In the âCreate house lead-inâ workflow, it is now checked whether the selected segment or duct is valid.
- If an error occurs during feature selection in the various workflows, AutoCAD Map 3D no longer crashes completely. Instead, an error report is displayed.
Planning and House Connection Assistant
- The drop duct naming in the house connection assistant has been extended. You can now use the placeholder âDUCT_BUNDLE_NAMEâ in the naming options to automatically insert the name of the duct bundle. This helps to avoid manual corrections and ensures consistent naming of microducts in planning workflows.
- Previously, when loading user settings in the planning assistant, settings for all users were loaded by mistake. This behavior has been corrected â from now on, only the settings for the current user are loaded as intended. This ensures that individual adjustments, such as fiber and cable configuration, are reliably applied. This prevents planning errors and ensures consistent results in daily workflows.
- It is now possible to create multiple house connections in succession without having to click the execute button after each operation. This continuous execution improves the workflow when planning several connections at once.
- Previously, errors could occur when splitting routes or ducts that contain columns with a unique indexâespecially during multiple splits as part of house connection planning. This issue has now been resolved: routes and ducts can now be split multiple times without problems, even if unique-indexed columns are present. This improvement streamlines the planning and documentation of house connections and ensures smoother workflows.
- A bug was fixed in the âCreating house lead-inâ workflow that caused the colors of the connected duct not to be applied to the created microducts.
- A bug was fixed in the âCreating house lead-inâ workflow that caused the duct type not to be set for created microducts.
- A bug has been fixed in the planning assistant that previously caused an error when creating a house connection if a building was located at the same position as a structure. Now, house connections can be created without error messages, even if a building is situated directly on the structure.
Connection editor
- German cable direction terms in the Connection Editor have been updated for consistency with NET Engineering forms.
- In the connection editor, all incoming or outgoing cables can now be selected directly. When âAll cablesâ is selected, the direction of each cable is also displayed.
- The 'Delete splitter' action has been added to the connection editor.
Dialogs
- A new jump button now allows direct access from the manhole and cabinet form to all assigned duct grids.
- The âBuildingâ form now provides a clear overview of building units and fiber optic components in the âFOâ tab. This new tree view makes it easier to understand the structure of a building and its network connections at a glance.
- In the âBreakdownâ form, the Building distance (m) is now rounded to 2 decimal places.
- The forms for Cluster and Action Area have been unified. The functions âShow statisticsâ, âExport bill of materialsâ, and âUpdate statusâ can now be found under the âEditâ menu.
- In the forms âFO Patch Dataâ, âFO Splice Dataâ, âTP Patch Dataâ and âTP Splice Dataâ it is now possible to create data records without an object (patch/splice) again.
- In the âFO Cable Sectionâ and âTP Cable Sectionâ forms, the tree views under âFibers & Servicesâ and âWires & Servicesâ are now also displayed correctly if the tab has a different name.
- The âFO Spliceâ form now correctly displays the splice type âSpliceâ for connector splices.
Reports
- It is now possible to export the new CO overview without FID columns. If the checkbox âShow FIDsâ is not selected in the user interface, the FID columns will not be included in the export. If the checkbox is selected, the FID columns will be exported as before.
- In the duct end plan, microduct name positions were adjusted to prevent them from being covered by ducts.
- When exporting a georeferenced cable schematic plan, the project's coordinate system is automatically applied to the DWG file.
- The report âFO Splice Overview Terminatorâ now also supports direct plug assembly.
- The display of cells and lines in the âLWL Belegungsplan Muffeâ report in AutoCAD has been corrected. The report now shows all cell borders and lines cleanly in both portrait and landscape formats, without unwanted artifacts. The dynamic adjustment of row sizes continues to function as expected.
- Fixed a bug where the âPrice per metre cableâ column in the cable cost report was not rounded to two decimal places.
- A bug was fixed in the âNET FO Splice Plan Landscapeâ report where text in columns could overlap or be cut off; dynamic line breaks are now applied as needed to ensure proper display.
- A bug was fixed in the âNET FO Splice Planâ report where text in columns could overlap or be cut off; dynamic line breaks are now applied as needed to ensure proper display.
GIS-Nebenbestimmungen
- Status categories can now also be selected in the GIS-NB export. Selecting a category automatically activates all associated statuses.
- With this release, the NET software now fully supports the new requirements of GIS-Nebenbestimmungen Baden-WĂŒrttemberg (GIS-NB BW) version 1.2 (as of 30.06.2023). The export function has been updated so that users can now select and export data according to both version 1.1 and the new version 1.2. All relevant attribute changes for point and line layers have been implemented, ensuring compatibility with the latest specifications. This update enables a seamless and error-free export process for projects in Baden-WĂŒrttemberg, supporting current regulatory requirements and improving documentation reliability.
TNIM
- The TNIM-specific fields âSource IDâ and âSource Data Storeâ have been removed from all forms in NET Engineering. These fields were only relevant for internal processes and are no longer visible to users. This change simplifies the forms and prevents confusion, as these attributes are not required for daily work.
Export to NET Build
- In NET Build Export, status categories can now be selected in addition to individual statuses. When a category is activated, all associated statuses are automatically selected.
- A new field, âADDRESS ID,â has been introduced in NET Build. After exporting to NET Build, this field is now visible for the following objects: cables, HA routes, building units, and buildings. The âADDRESS IDâ contains the UID of the associated building.
- During export to NET Build, geometries of existing regions are now updated even without the âCreate regionsâ checkbox enabled.
- In the export settings to NET Build, trenches and drop trenches can now be grouped separately. For drop trenches, there is also a new grouping option âBy contentâ. This allows the transfer of trenches to be tailored even more precisely to the requirements of network planning.
Redlining
- The new action âDetermine missing distribution pointâ is now available during Redlining data transfer. It automatically determines the distribution point for lead-in ducts where it has not been entered.
- A bug was fixed in the Redlining data transfer that caused the action settings to not be displayed correctly.
Documentation Pack
- Filter buttons are now available for the start cable type and closure type options in the cable jointing diagram to apply conditions directly from the form.
- When running the DocPack for cable jointing diagram files with the same name in the output are not overwritten anymore.
Validation
- Project validation now includes a cancel option. Once a check is started, users can stop the process at any time using a new âAbortâ button. This gives users more control over long-running validations and allows them to stop them early if needed. A short confirmation is requested when cancelling.
- The âDuplicate ductâ function in the context menu of a duct in the âSegmentâ or âDuctâ form now only considers ducts and no longer cables when checking for free spaces in accordance with the Duct Bundle Configuration, as expected.
