Overview
The NET Cloud App is an Android App designed to support the efficient documentation of field data through the capture, management, and upload of geotagged photos. By combining photo capture with GPS-based location data and structured metadata, the application enables users to create well-documented visual records that can be directly stored and accessed within the NET Cloud environment.
Installation and Required Permissions
The App can be installed through the Google Play Store by searching for NET Cloud App and following the standard installation process. Once installed, the application will request several permissions that are essential for its proper functionality.
Camera access is required to allow users to capture photos directly within the application. Location access is necessary to record GPS coordinates. Depending on the device and Android version, storage access may also be requested.
Logging into the App
After installation, the app can be launched from the device’s app menu. Upon opening the app for the first time, the user is presented with a login screen where valid credentials must be entered. Once the login information has been provided, the user can proceed by tapping the login button.
If the authentication is successful, the user gains access to the main interface of the application. Immediately after logging in, a list of available projects is displayed. The user is required to select one of these projects in order to continue working within the app. This project selection determines where the captured and uploaded photos will be stored. The selected project can be changed at any time through the project selection option available on the main screen.
User Interface Overview
The main screen provides an overview of the main functionalities of the app. At the top of the screen, the currently active project is displayed. By tapping on this section, the user can switch to a different project if multiple projects are available.
In addition, the main screen includes an import icon that allows users to bring existing photos from the device’s gallery into the application. This feature is particularly useful when images have been captured outside the app but still need to be uploaded and documented within the NET Cloud.
A key component of the main screen is the photo list, which displays all photos associated with the selected project. This list includes both newly captured or imported photos and those that have already been uploaded. The photos are organized into categories, New photos include all photos that have been saved but not yet uploaded. photos on Device are uploaded but also stored locally and available on the iPhone.
Each photo entry in the list provides a thumbnail preview, along with a title. If no title has been manually assigned, the App take the photo’s Location as a title. The date and time of capture are also displayed. Users can interact with each photo directly from the list, including initiating uploads or opening the detailed view for further editing.
The application also includes a menu section that provides access to account-related functions. Within this menu, users can view their account information and log out of the application when necessary.
Taking and Managing Photos
Taking a Photo
To capture a photo, the user can tap the camera button within the application interface. This action opens the camera, Once the photo is captured, it is automatically added to the photo list for further processing.
Importing a Photo
In addition to capturing new photos, the application also allows users to import existing photos from the device’s gallery. This can be done by tapping the import icon located on the main screen. After selecting a photo, it will be added to the application and treated in the same way as newly captured photos.
Editing Photo Details (Metadata)
After a photo has been captured or imported, the user can open it from the photo list to access the photo details screen. This screen allows the user to enrich the photo with additional metadata.
Users can enter a title for the photo, as well as a description or comment, Tags can also be assigned. Depending on the project configuration, the user may also be required to assign the photo to required tags if the required tags are not set the upload will not be possible
The photo details screen also includes location management features. By tapping on the map, the user can edit the recorded location, copy the GPS coordinates, or open the location in an external map application.
Furthermore, users have the option to assign the photo to a different project directly from the details screen. This is useful if a photo was initially captured under the wrong project.
Photos can also be deleted if they are no longer needed. This can be done either by using the delete icon within the photo details screen or by performing a long press on the photo in the main list.
Uploading to NET Cloud
Once all necessary metadata has been completed, the photo can be uploaded to the NET Cloud. The user can initiate the upload either from the photo list or from within the photo details screen by pressing the corresponding upload button.
After the upload process has started, the application provides visual feedback to inform the user about the current status. After upload the photo move from new photo list to photos on device
In cases where the upload fails, the application displays an error message explaining the issue
