Tabs
Users can find all the information about the segment in the “General” home tab.
Attribute | Description |
Name | The name of the line is displayed. Clicking on the button opens the line form for the current segment or, with , for all objects in the filter. (1) |
Category | A category can be assigned to the segment. Clicking on the button opens the selection of all defined segment categories. Double-clicking in the list box opens the form for the segment category. (2) |
State | The status assigned to the segment in the line form is displayed. (3) |
Type | A type can be assigned to the segment. Clicking on the button opens the selection of all defined segmenttypes. Double-clicking in the list box opens the form for the segment type. (4) |
Laying type | A laying type can be assigned to the segment. Clicking on the button opens the selection of all defined laying types. Double-clicking in the list box opens the form for the laying types. (5) |
Template | In order to be able to display the occupancy of the segment with cables and ducts in the graphic, a cross section must be assigned to the segment. You can find out more about the cross-section template here. (6) |
Precision | A precision can be assigned to the segment. Clicking on the button opens the selection of all defined precisions. Double-clicking in the list box opens the form for the precision. (7) |
Usage | A usage can be assigned to the segment. Clicking on the button opens the selection of all defined usages. Double-clicking in the list box opens the form for the usage. (8) |
Contents | Under Contents, users can find information on the occupancy of the segment as well as segment-specific workflows. In the middle pane, the occupancy of the segment with ducts, microducts and cables is displayed in the form of a tree view. In this case, the various elements can be quickly identified from the preceding symbol. A coloration of the duct symbol in yellow indicates that the corresponding duct is occupied by microducts or cables. The ducts and cables are displayed with their names. If no name has been assigned by the user, the type and the FID of the object appear as an alternative. You can find out more about occupancy here. (9) |
Segment data | The segment data managed in the line form for the segment is displayed. (10) Information on the segment can be stored. (11) |
Details | The user length as well as the CAD length of the segment from the line form is displayed. The user length can be adjusted if necessary here. The user can specify the depth of the segment. It is possible to attach and open the drilling logs. (12) |
Assignments | Which ducts, cable sections and services are assigned to the segment is listed under Assignments. The total lengths of the ducts and cable sections are displayed. The corresponding forms can be opened. (13) This displays whether documents have been attached to the form. (14) All assigned cables, ducts and the cross section for the selected segment or for all segments in the filter can be opened in the form. (15) |
Assigning and editing a cross-section template
Clicking on the button opens the selection of the already-defined cross-section templates. Once the user has made a selection, the current segment cross section is displayed.
Note
The corresponding layers for the lines and symbols must be loaded and stylized in the display model.

Highlight | The segment is highlighted in the graphic. |
Highlight (and zoom) | The segment is highlighted in the graphic and the area of the segment is zoomed in on. |
Show child cables in form | All cables assigned to the segment are displayed. The form for the line belonging to the cable section opens with all cables in the filter. |
Show subordinate ducts in form | All ducts assigned to the segment are displayed. The form for the duct opens with all the ducts in the filter. |
Edit inner ducts attributes | The dialogue "Edit attributes of inner ducts" opens. The ducts can be renumbered and recoloured. |
Remove all child assignments | All elements allocated to the segment, such as ducts and cables, are disconnected. If these elements do not have their own geometry, the corresponding records are deleted. |
Assign existing ducts | Existing ducts with geometry can be assigned to the segment. The user is prompted to select the ducts to be assigned in the graphic. |
Create and assign ducts (without geometry) | If new ducts without geometry are to be created and assigned to the segment, the user starts this workflow. For more information, see Creating and assigning ducts. |
Assign existing cables | Existing cables with geometry can be assigned to the segment. The user is prompted to select the cables to be assigned in the graphic. |

Assign child ducts/cables to one more segment | The ducts/cables assigned to the selected segment can be assigned to further segments. |
Assign child ducts/cables as copy to one more segment | The ducts/cables assigned to the selected segment can be assigned to a further segment as a copy. In this case, new records with the same attributes are created for the ducts and cables. |
Remove geometry of all child ducts | The geometry of all subordinate ducts can be removed. |
Remove geometry of all child cables | The geometry of all subordinate cables can be removed. |

Assign child ducts/cables to one more segment/ duct | This command can be used to assign all subordinate ducts and cables to a further duct/segment in one go. In this case, this further duct can be selected as a line from the graphic or as a duct from the segment cross section. |

Menu items
A connection overview can be displayed via “network exploration”.
Various workflows can be started via the “Edit” menu.
If a segment cross section is assigned to the segment, it can be mirrored, moved, displayed or hidden. In addition, a further cross section can be assigned to the segment. If a cross section has been hidden, the “Show cross section” command is available. If the cross section is displayed, the “Hide cross section” command is available.
It is possible to enter a segment -occupancy text on the segment and to update it. In Industry model options > NET options > Survey plan > segment-occupancy text tab, you can specify which information should be entered on the segment.
The attributes for subordinate ducts (number, name, colour) can be adjusted in the dialogue that opens.
If a geometry was created with the “Create duct geometry using a segment/duct” workflow for ducts that are assigned to a segment/duct (without geometry), this can be removed here. This also applies to several segments in the filter.
Note
When mirroring, the cross section is mirrored on the base. If the cross section is to be displayed on the other side of the segment, the “Move cross section” command has to be applied.
When moving, appears in the command bar. Set the new position for this point
in the graphic.
Then, appears in the command bar. Set the new position for this point
in the graphic. With ESC, the perpendicular from the first point to the segment is created as the second point.

The duct endings overview and the forms for the labels created can be opened via the “Overviews/reports” menu.
Laying type
The laying type form is started by double-clicking in the corresponding list box in the detailed form for segment.
This form can be used to enter descriptive information on how a segment was laid.
1. The ID of the record is specified.
2. The short value of the laying type can be used here.
3. Laying-type name.
4. Selection of the date when the record was created.
5. Name of the person who created the record.
6. Input of an additional comment on the laying type.
7. Only active laying types can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for segments.
8. The priority of the laying type can be entered.
9. Clicking on lists all segments that use the current laying type. The button shows all segments to which a laying type has been assigned.
Usage
The segment-usage form is started by double-clicking in the corresponding list box in the detailed form for segment.
In this form, descriptive information can be stored on how a segment is used.
1. The ID of the record is specified.
2. A short value of the segment usage can be used here.
3. Usage name.
4. Selection of the date when the record was created.
5. Name of the person who created the record.
6. Input of an additional comment on the usage.
7. Only active segment usages can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for segments.
8. The priority of segment usage can be entered.
9. Clicking on lists all segments that use the current segment usage. The button shows all segments to which a segment usage has been assigned in the filter.
Positional accuracy
The positional accuracy form is started by double-clicking in the corresponding list box in the detailed form for segment.
In this form, descriptive information can be stored about how exact a segment is.
1. The ID of the record is specified.
2. A short value of the positional accuracy can be used here.
3. Positional-accuracy name.
4. Selection of the date when the record was created.
5. Name of the person who created the record.
6. Input of an additional comment on the positional accuracy.
7. Only active positional accuracies can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for segments.
8. The priority of the positional accuracy can be entered.
9. Clicking on lists all segments that use the current positional accuracy. The button shows all segments to which a positional accuracy has been assigned in the filter.
