In NET Engineering, users have the option of defining fiber types themselves. The form is opened by double-clicking in the Type field in the Fiber form or in Industry-Model Explorer > FO Network > Fiber > Fiber Type.

| Name | Enter the name of the fiber type here. (1) |
| Short value | Users themselves can specify and enter short value for fiber types. |
| Category | The category to which the fiber belongs can be selected from a drop-down list. Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing the various categories of fibers. (3) |
| Info | Information about the fiber type can be entered. (4) |
| Wavelength-based fiber data | Opens a form with wavelength-based data for the fiber type. See Fiber data for more information. (4) |
| Wavelength/Attenuation | The wavelength and attenuation recorded for the fiber data are displayed here. (5) |
| Active | Only active types can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for FO fibers. (6) |

| Description | The description of the type can be entered here. (12) |
| Documents | Whether documents have been attached to the form is displayed. (13) |
| Assigned fibers | The number of fibers to which this type is assigned is displayed. Clicking on lists all fibers that use the current type. The button displays all fibers to which a type has been assigned in the filter. (14) |
