In TP Networks, the individual pin–wire–pin connections are checked with measurements after laying and in the event of operational breakdowns. These measurements are carried out with reference to the respective pin. Depending on the measurement device, the measurement logs are available in data form as files for further processing and archiving.
NET manages the measurements as individual records for each pin. Multiple measurements can be managed for one pin.

Recording a measurement

In the Pin form, a new measurement is attached to the connector in the form of a file by means of the “Edit” menu.

The following dialog opens:

1. The measurement file is added.
2. The type of measurement can be selected.
3. The date of the measurement is entered.
4. The technician is selected from the database. In the Employee-relationship tab of the Person form, the Technician field must be set to YES.
5. The measuring device is selected.
6. Clicking on completes the action.

Tabs

Items 1–3 as well as 5 and 8 are taken from the Add TP Measurements dialog. However, the information can also be adjusted later, as described below.
Attribute	Description
Technician	The technician is selected from a drop-down list or from the database. Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing persons. In the Person form on the Employee-relationship tab, the Technician field must be set to YES.
Date	The date of the measurement is entered.
Type	The type of measurement can be selected. Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing measurement types.
Measurement data	The feature class and the name of the terminator to which the pin is assigned and the name of the pin are displayed. The button highlights the terminator in the graphic.
Measurement device	The measurement device assigned to the measurement is displayed or can be selected from a drop-down list using . Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing measurement devices.
Frequency	The frequency is displayed or can be selected from a drop-down list using . Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing frequencies.
Additional information	Under the additional information for the measuring device, the type and
Serial number	the serial number of the measuring device can be recorded.
Measurement file	The measurement file can be attached to the record of the fiber-optic measurement using the button. The attached measurement file can be opened by clicking on the button.
Information	Information on the FO measurement can be recorded.
Add a measurement	The button opens the dialog for adding a measurement in order to quickly add further measurements for the pin.
Documents	This displays whether documents have been attached to the form.

Measuring device

For the assessment of a measurement, it is necessary to know the measurement device used to perform it. Therefore, the measurement device can be described in more detail in this form.
In NET Engineering, users have the option of defining measurement devices themselves. The form is opened by double-clicking in the measurement device field in the TP Measurement form or in Industry-Model Explorer > TP Network > TP Measurement > TP Measurement Device.

Tabs

1. The name of measurement device can be entered.
2. This is where the manufacturer is displayed or can be selected from a drop-down list.  Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing persons.
3. Information about the measurement device can be entered.
4. The serial number can be entered here.
5. The number of measurements to which this measurement device is assigned is displayed. Clicking on displays all measurements to which this measuring device is assigned. The button opens all measurements that have been measured with the measurement devices in the filter.
6. This displays whether documents have been attached to the form.

Measurement Type

For the description of a measurement, it is necessary to know the type of measurement. Therefore, the measurement type can be described in more detail in this form.
In NET Engineering, users have the option of defining measurement types themselves. The form is opened by double-clicking in the type field in the TP Measurement form.

Tabs

1. The ID of the record is displayed.
2. The short value of the measurement type can be entered.
3. The name of the measurement type is entered.
4. The date when the record was created can be selected.
5. The name of the person who created the record can be entered.
6. A comment on the record can be entered.
7. Only active measurements can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for TP Measurement.
8. A priority for the type can be assigned.
9. Clicking on displays all measurements to which this measurement type is assigned. The button opens all measurements that have been measured with the measurement types in the filter.
