In NET Engineering, users have the option of defining wire types themselves. The form is opened by double-clicking in the Type field in the Wire form or in Industry-Model Explorer > TP Network > Wire > Wire Type.

| Attribute | Description |
| Name | Enter the name of the wire type here. (1) |
| Short value | Users themselves can specify and enter short values for wire types. |
| Category | The category to which the wire belongs can be selected from a drop-down list. Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing the various categories of wires. (3) |
| Info | Information about the wire type can be entered. (4) |
| Frequency-based data | Opens a form with frequency-based data for the wire type. See Wire data for more information. (5) |
| Frequency/Attenuation | The frequency and attenuation recorded for the fiber data are displayed here. (6) |
| Active | Only active types can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for FO fibers. (7) |

| Service cost | Specification of the cost for the service. (13) |
| Description | The description of the type can be entered here. (14) |
| Documents | Whether documents have been attached to the form is displayed. (15) |
| Assigned wires | The number of wires to which this type is assigned is displayed. Clicking on lists all wires that use the current type. The button displays all wires to which a type has been assigned in the filter. (16) |
