In NET Engineering, users have the option of defining wire types themselves. The form is opened by double-clicking in the Type field in the Wire form or in Industry-Model Explorer > TP network > Wire > Wire type.

Attribute | Description |
Name | Enter the name of the wire type here. (1) |
Short name | Users themselves can specify and enter short names for wire types. |
Category | The category to which the wire belongs can be selected from a drop-down list. Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing the various categories of wires. (3) |

Frequency-related data | Opens a form with frequency-related data for the wire type. See Wire data for more information. (4) |
Wavelength/attenuation | The wavelength and attenuation recorded for the fiber data are displayed here. (5) |
Active | Only active types can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for FO fibers. (6) |
