Importing and exporting data with bulk copy

Data can be both imported and exported using bulk copy.

If data of an SDF or SHAPE is to be imported, the corresponding connection must first be made. You can connect to the data by clicking on the data container (“Manage data content”):

Select the type of data connection on the left and select the file or the directory by clicking the button. Then press the “Connect” button:

In the display management, bulk copy is opened by clicking on the data container.

The following dialog opens:

The data source must be specified on the left-hand side and the target must be specified on the right-hand side.

If you want to import data, the appropriate source must be selected on the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, you must specify the feature classes into which the data should be imported.

Clicking “Copy now” starts the bulk copy.

The number of objects exported is displayed in this dialog:

If data is to be exported by a bulk copy, the procedure is analogous, except that the feature classes must be selected on the left-hand side and the data connection to SDF or SHAPE must be selected on the right-hand side.

Note

The properties displayed on the right-hand side (target) cannot be empty or contain invalid (special characters) or more than 12 characters. Otherwise, the following message will appear:
