Possible Trench

After the preprocessing, all trench routes relevant for the planning are managed in the “Possible Trench” feature class.

This means only those records that are included in this feature class will also be taken into account in the planning.

During the preprocessing, the “Possible Trench” are generated from the “Street Center Lines”, taking into account the street width. In addition, the “Possible Trench” are given a “Trench Class” attribute. This defines whether it is a lead-in, a street trench or a street crossing, etc.

With each preprocessing, all records in the “Possible Trench” object class are deleted and created anew. For this reason, changes in street routes must not be made to the “Possible Trench” but to “Street Center Lines”.

Opening the form

The following options are available for opening the form:

  • In the Industry Model Explorer by right-clicking on Feature class > Show form

additionally, for feature classes with geometry,

  • by double-clicking on the geometry in the graphic window
  • by single-clicking on the geometry in the graphic window and display the form by pressing the  mceclip0.png button in the Industry Model Explorer

The form consists of a “Possible Trench” main form and the detailed form for “Planning Attribute Value”.

Group ID

(Comsof optimizer only)

Trenches with the same ID ≥ 0 belong to an intersection.

YES/NO. Classification of the record

Is Included

Determines whether the object will be considered in the planning.

Is Locked

This attribute only applies to records that use the “Lead-in” trench class and is only supported by Comsof Fiber Designer.

Maximum amount of ducts

(Comsof optimizer only)

Limits the shared use of the possible trench to the defined number of ducts.      Caution: The value applies per layer. Under certain circumstances, this restriction is ignored if the network could not otherwise be calculated.

Maximum amount of cables

(Comsof optimizer only)

Limits the shared use of the possible trench to the defined number of cables.Caution: The value applies per layer. Under certain circumstances, this restriction is ignored if the network could not otherwise be calculated.

Maximum amount of fibers

(Comsof optimizer only)

Limits the shared use of the possible trench to the defined number of fibers. Caution: The value applies per network layer. Under certain circumstances, this restriction is ignored if the network could not otherwise be calculated.

Street Center Line

Display of the FID of the street center line on which the possible trench is based.

Trench Class

Defines the class of the trench: Street trench, street crossing, drop trench, etc.

Trench Type

Defines the surface / construction method of roads/streets; dedicated costs can be stored in the rules for the calculation for each type.

Used Trenches

Jump button to the result: Used trenches that use this record.

Excluded Layers

In order to prohibit the use of the possible trenches for certain network layers, the corresponding check box must be activated.

Duct Type Constraint

(Comsof optimizer only)

This attribute is used to restrict the use of ducts for the respective record to certain duct types. This attribute is populated from the street center lines during the preprocessing.
