In NET Engineering, users have the option of defining cable categories themselves. The form is opened by double-clicking in the Category field in the FO Cable Section or TP Cable Section form.

| ID | The ID of the cable category is displayed. (1) |
| Short value | This is where you enter the short value. (2) |
| Value | Enter the name of the cable category here. (3) |
| Created on | The date when the record was created can be specified. (4) |
| Designer | The person who created the record can be entered. (5) |
| Comment | A comment on the cable category can be entered here. (6) |
| Active | Only active cable categories can be selected from the drop-down list in the FO Cable Section or FM Cable Section detailed form. (7) |
| Priority | A priority can be assigned for the category. (8) |
| TP (telephony) Cable | Clicking on  lists all TP Cable Sections that use the current Cable Category. The  button displays all TP Cable Sections to which a Cable Category has been assigned in the filter. (9) |
| FO (fiber-optic) Cable | Clicking on lists all FO Cable Sections that use the current cable category. The button displays all FO Cable Sections to which a cable category has been assigned in the filter. (10) |
