Switching Point

The switching point permits connections between several points, such as closures and terminators. FO Connections as well as TP Connections can be established.

Starting from the switching point, the NETwork path finding and the rack editor can be started.

Tabs

Users can find information about the points, type and additional information in the “General” home tab.

Attribute Description
Name This displays the name of the switching point. Clicking on mceclip2.png opens the point form for the current record. The mceclip3.png button shows the detailed forms for all switching points in the filter. (1)
Type The switching point type assigned to the switching point is displayed. Double-clicking on the list box opens the detailed form for managing the various switching point types. (2)
Information Additional information on the switching point can be stored in this text field. (3)
Picture A picture can be assigned to the record and is displayed in the form. (4)
Documents This displays whether documents have been attached to the form. (5)


The “Fiber Optic” tab displays all assignments from the FO Network.

Attribute Description
Name/Type The name and type are taken from the General tab and can be edited. (1)
Child FO nodes Overview of the FO nodes assigned to the switching point. Click on mceclip2.png to obtain the detailed forms of the FO Terminators or FO Closures. Further FO nodes can be assigned to the switching point from the graphic by clicking on mceclip1.png or from the database by clicking on mceclip2.png. (2)
Connections All FO Points assigned to the switching point are displayed under Connections. (3)
Overviews The FO Overview filters all points assigned to the switching point. The FO circuit diagram leads to an overview with all terminators and their respective connectors, services and patches. The FO Patches button leads to the detailed form of the same name. In addition, the line forms for the FO Cable Sections inserted in the terminators are displayed. (4)
The number of Connectors, Patches, Services and Splitters assigned to the switching point via the FO points is displayed and the forms with the respectively filtered records can be opened. (5)


The “Telephony” tab displays all assignments from the TP network.

The number of pins, patches and services assigned to the switching point via the TP Points is displayed and the forms with the respectively filtered data sets can be opened. (5)

 

Menu items

The “Edit” menu can be used to start the Rack Editor, the FO Connection Editor or the TP Connection Editor.

Various overviews and splice plans can be opened via the “Overviews/Reports” menu.

1. You can open the form for services with all services in the filter that are assigned to the switching point.
2. The form for patch fibers that were created in the switching point can be opened.

3a. The FO Splice plans in the grouped view can be opened in a separate drawing.
  b. The FO Splice plans in the detailed view can be opened in a separate drawing.
  c. The FO overview can be opened. This shows all the fibre optic terminators that are assigned to the switching point.
  d. The FO patching can be opened. All connectors created in the FO terminators of the switching point are displayed in this. The associated patches and services are also displayed.
  e. The form for FO Patches that were created in the switching point can be opened.
  f. The inserted FO Cables can be opened in the form.
  g. The endings overview can be opened.
  h. The CO overview can be displayed for the currently displayed switching point, for all switching points in the filter and for all bookmarked switching points (in the table view).
4a. The TP splice plans in the grouped view can be opened in a separate drawing.
  b. The TP splice plans in the detailed view can be opened in a separate drawing.
  c. The TP Overview can be opened. This shows all the TP terminators that are assigned to the switching point.
  d. The TP Wiring can be opened. All pins created in the TP terminators of the switching point are displayed in this. The associated patches and services are also displayed.
  e. The form for TP Patches that were created in the switching point can be opened.
  f. The inserted TP cables can be opened in the form.
  g. The endings overview can be opened.

The “NETwork path finding” workflow is started via the “Routing” menu.

Whether an FO NETwork path finding or TP NETwork path finding should be started, or whether both network types should be taken into account, is only determined in the settings of the dialog.

Print reports

The printer icon at the bottom of the form can be used to print the available reports

Switching Point Type

Users have the option of defining various types of switching points themselves. The form is opened by double-clicking in the Type field in the switching point form.

1. The name of the switching point type is displayed.
2. This is where the manufacturer can be selected from the database.
3. The designation of the manufacturer for the switching-point type can be entered.
4. The order number can be entered.
5. Entry of material cost and currency.
6. Entry of the service cost.
7. The description of the switching point type can be entered here.
8. An info text can be entered.
9. Only active switching-point types can be selected from the drop-down list in the detailed form for switching points.
10. Clicking on mceclip2.png lists all switching points that use the current switching point type. The mceclip3.png button displays all switching points to which a switching point type has been assigned in the filter.
